PLEASE NOTE: Repair work to electrical appliances should only be carried out by a suitably qualified person in accordance with local and national safety regulations. Repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for unauthorised work.

The programme does not start

Check that the mains plug is correctly inserted and that the fuse has not tripped. Check that the door is closed properly and that the correct programme has been selected and started. A number of Miele washing machines have a system lock to prevent unauthorised use in shared laundry rooms. Check that this lock is deactivated. Information on activation and deactivation is given in the operating instructions.

The Check inlet/drain light flashes (or lights up constantly)

Check that the stopcock is opened fully or whether the water inlet hose is kinked. Clean the fluff filter and drain pump as described in the operating instructions. If several indicator lights flash simultaneously and/or an alarm sounds, please contact our Customer Service.

The Pre-wash, Main wash/Wash or Rinses indicator light flashes

Switch the appliance off and then back on again. Start the programme again. If the same error message appears, there is a fault and our Customer Service should be contacted.

Strange noises during the wash cycle

If these noises occur at the beginning and end of the pump sequence, this does not indicate a fault. Check whether the appliance is correctly positioned. Information on secure positioning is given in the operating instructions. Check the machine for foreign objects at the end of the wash cycle. Clean the fluff filter

The drum door cannot be opened

Check that the mains plug is correctly inserted and that the fuse has not tripped. Miele washing machines feature an emergency door release for use in the event of mains failure or if the water outlet is blocked. Proceed as described in the operating instructions. PLEASE NOTE: If laundry has been washed at a high temperature, water draining out of the machine will still be hot. There is a risk of scalding.

Faulty drum lighting (not applicable for all models)

The washing machine will still operate as normal with no lamp in place or if lighting is faulty. Check that the protective cover is firmly secured. To secure the lighting unit, proceed according to the operating instructions. Instructions on bulb replacement are also given in the operating instructions.

General fault prevention

To prevent damage to fabrics and machine components, before starting the programme, check that pockets do not contain any foreign objects. Check the door seal at the end of the programme.

The programme does not start

"Empty out container" indicator comes on

The condensed water container needs emptying. Switch off the tumble dryer, empty, then replace the container. Ensure that it clicks firmly into position. If a condensate drain hose has been fitted, check this for kinks or blockages.

The dryer runs for an exceptionally long time and/or the "Clean airways" indicator comes on

Clean the fluff filters in the door frame. The heat exchanger should also be cleaned. The cleaning process is described in the operating instructions.

The drum door opens during the drying cycle

Check that airways are not blocked and clean the affected part according to the operating instructions.

The following LEDs flash: Machine iron, Hand iron, Normal

Switch the dryer off and then back on again. If the fault message reappears, please contact our Customer Service.

Horizontal bars move across the display

This does not indicate a fault but residual moisture sensing at the beginning of a programme.

Arrow The vacuum cleaner switches off automatically

The vacuum cleaner switches off automatically

A temperature limiter switches the vacuum cleaner off automatically if it gets too hot. Some models have a warning light (triangle) which comes on to indicate that it has overheated. Allow the appliance to cool down for approx. 30 mins. and remove any blockages to the air path.

The "Change dustbag" indicator stays on even when a new bag has been inserted

To ensure the dustbag change indicator gives a correct reading, lift the floorhead off the floor slightly to prevent the vacuum created in the suction tube from influencing the reading.

The exhaust filter indicator is red

Change the exhaust filter and then press "Reset" to switch off the indicator light.

Check that the stopcock is opened fully or whether the water inlet hose is kinked...Check that the water inlet filter is not clogged and clean it, if necessary, as described in the operating instructions....Check that the drain pump is not clogged. This can be cleaned as described in the operating instructions....Reset the error message as follows: To cancel the error message, turn the rotary selector switch to "Stop/End" or press the "Start/Stop" switch for approx. 5 secs. Then switch the appliance off and then back on again. If the fault message reappears, please contact the Customer Contact Centre.

There is a knocking noise in the cabinet

Check whether spray arms are knocking against an item in a basket. If the source of noise cannot be determined, run a programme without crockery. If the noises continue, please contact our Customer Service.

Clean your appliance as described in the operating instructions under "Cleaning and Care". If the appliance continues to produce poor results, please contact our Customer Service.

The door cannot be opened

Check that the child-safety function is not activated. This can be deactivated as described in the operating instructions.

The salt reservoir has inadvertently been filled with detergent

DO NOT USE THE APPLIANCE, DETERGENT WILL DESTROY THE WATER SOFTENER... Use a wet and dry vacuum cleaner to remove water and detergent from the reservoir, then add and remove water several times to rinse out the reservoir.

The inlet/drain indicator is flashing and an audible sound can be heard during drainage

Possibly some kind of particles, e.g. a kernel or a glass shard, is blocking the drain pump. Please remove it according to the operating manual. You find the proper instructions under the manual's sections "Problem solving" and "Cleaning and care".

The fault message "F52" is indicated in the display

A sensor detected too much foam in the wash cabinet. The cleaning programme has been interrupted. To erase the fault message, please turn the programme selector to the "Stop/End" position or press the button "Start/Stop" for around 5 seconds, depending on the model type. Afterwards switch the appliance off and on. If detergent tabs are used, which already include the rinse aid, the function "2 in 1" or "3 in 1" should be selected. Please do not use detergent tabs in the programme "Quick wash 40ºC".

The coffee is not hot enough

-Pre heat the cups -Use fresh cold skimmed, semi-skimmed milk -Cappuncinatore needs be cleaned (dishwasher or cappunciinatore rinsing process depending on the model) -Correct water hardness has been set and descaling carried out -Coffee temperature ( for all types, espresso, coffee, cappucino) has been set to maximum (settings menu) Not available on the CVA2660 -Water temperature has been set to maximum (settings menu) Not available on the CVA2660 -Both heating systems are activated (settings menu) Not available on the CVA2660 Wait for the coffee machine to warm up Remove water from clear nipple on the cappucinatore -Correct temperature for drinking coffee is not at boiling point and it should be possible to drink straight away. -DO NOT pour cold milk into prepared coffee.

The amount of espresso/coffee is too low/high per serving

You can set the amount of espresso/coffee brewed per serving via the customising settings in the menu. The procedure is explained under the point "Amount of coffee" in the operating manual.

This is not a fault. The warming function is automatically activated for a maximum of 15 mins. at the end of cooking.

This is an energy-saving function which switches off the display and can be deactivated by following the operating instructions.

The turntable does not turn smoothly

Beneath the turntable a carrier with 3 rollers is located. Please clean these 3 rollers, the surface and the cavity under the carrier according to the "Cleaning and care" section in the operating instructions.

The appliance does not respond

Check that the mains plug is correctly inserted and that the fuse has not tripped. Disconnect the appliance from the mains supply for approx. 1 min., then reconnect the appliance and switch it on again. If the appliance still does not respond, please contact our Customer Contact Centre.

A number of Miele steam ovens have a system lock as a child-safety feature. Check whether this lock is activated. Information on activation and deactivation is given in the operating instructions.

An error message "F" appears in the display

In most cases, the steam cooker display indicates a fault which can often be corrected by consulting the operating instructions. After rectifying the fault, switch the appliance off and then back on again. If the error message still appears in the display, please contact our Customer Contact Centre.

The fault message "F20" appears in the display

Please check if the water tank is inserted properly. If the tank cannot be inserted smoothly please use the provided silicone grease to lubricate the coupling seal. You"ll find a description of the procedure in the "Cleaning and Care" section of the operation manual.

This is a warning that the temperature inside the appliance has increased. This may occur if the door is left open too long or a large amount of food has been put into the appliance at once. The audible signal can be switched off.

In the event of a power failure, free laundry by using the emergency release lever. Precise details are given in the operating instructions, which also provide information on how to reset the roller to the ironing position.
